FCN 3023 - Nutrition Through the Life Cycle


Credit Hours: 3
Prerequisites: FCN 203  and BIO 164 . The course assumes students have had an introductory course for key elements of nutrition.  After the first chapter of review, there are two chapters to cover each phase of the nine life cycles beginning with preconception.  The first chapter of each cycle covers detailed normal nutrition and the next will cover nutrition-related conditions and interventions for those conditions.  Advances in knowledge about nutrition and health is expanding at a remarkable rate.  Research is taking our understanding of dietary patterns, gene variants, body fat, physical activity and dietary supplements to new levels.  This course will introduce new tools for quality nutrition.
