The Allied Health Science Interdisciplinary Major will prepare students for graduate programs in areas such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Athletic Training, Clinical Exercise Physiology, etc. The program offers a diverse curriculum with a foundation in Biology, Chemistry, Math and Exercise Science. Each graduate program may have specific prerequisites other than what is offered in this program. Students should inquire from all graduate schools of interest all necessary prerequisites prior to completion of this program. Completing the Allied Health Science major does not ensure candidates will be accepted to graduate school. Many programs are of a highly competitive nature and will evaluate each candidate on their merits for admission. It is recommended that students maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the program to be considered for entry into most graduate school programs.
The objectives for the major emphases in health, physical education, and recreation are that students will:
- acquire knowledge and understanding of content within Allied Health Science Interdisciplinary major (academic);
- develop skills and a work ethic for application in the work place through professional expertise (vocational);
- connect the professional study of human movement to God’s design for mankind’s stewardship of human, physical well-being (Christian);
- understand and appreciate the role of physical fitness and national preparedness in defense of country, as well as expressions of love and pride of one’s country through international sport competition (patriotic);
- appreciate the physical manifestation of movement within God’s design as a form of creative expression (cultural).
Required major courses: 25-28 credit hours
General Education course specified by major
Required collateral courses: 57 credit hours
Chemistry: 8 credit hours
One of the following courses: 4 credit hours
Math/Physics: 17 credit hours
Social Science: 9 credit hours

Students must meet all required prerequisites for specified courses.
