General Information:
Bachelor of Science
The Nettie Marie Jones Chair of Chemistry was established to honor Mrs. Jones’ contribution to the total program of the College. Funding for this chair is provided by the estate of Mrs. Jones.
A student graduating with a degree in chemistry from College of the Ozarks will:
- understand the basics of the major branches of chemistry and see their connections to other scientific disciplines (Academic);
- acquire the ability to use the tools, techniques, and instrumentation of chemistry to serve others in their profession as hard-working persons of character (Vocational);
- understand and appreciate the beauty of God’s Creation when explored at the molecular level (Christian);
- be knowledgeable, thoughtful, and active citizens of God’s Kingdom and our country, and be able to apply critical thinking skills to make well-informed decisions about current chemical and scientific issues (Patriotic);
- be able to collect, evaluate, and communicate chemical information effectively in oral and written form (Cultural).
Biochemistry Major Requirements: 60 credit hours
