Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science
The Communication Arts degree prepares students for today’s diverse and evolving business, professional, and academic fields. This major consists of four emphases: Electronic Media Production, Journalism, Public Relations and Speech Communication. Each emphasis will enhance students’ critical thinking, communication and field-specific technology skills. Graduates will: 1.) understand the functionality of both communication and media within society and 2.) develop knowledge and skills necessary to function as a productive member in the field.
A student may not major in more than one emphasis in Communication Arts. Students majoring in Speech Communication or Public Relations may not minor in Speech Communication. Requirements:
Core courses required of all Communication Arts Majors: 15 credit hours
One of the following: 3 credit hours
General Education course specified by the major
Electronic Media Production Emphasis: 15-18 credit hours
One of the following: 3 credit hours
Video Production Track: 18 credit hours
Required collateral courses: 12 credit hours (Video Track)
One of the following: 3 credit hours
