General Information
Bachelor of Science
The objectives of the fire science emphasis in public safety are that students will:
- demonstrate a working knowledge of the science of fire protection and successfully complete state certifications in fire science (Academic);
- exhibit an understanding of the work of fire science, including providing service to the campus community and beyond through work as a career or volunteer within the local fire protection community (Vocational);
- develop a Christian worldview and understand how that worldview should shape, guide, and direct their actions as a community of fire protection servants (Christian);
- understand and appreciate their role as domestic patriots, who protect the homeland and the public and sacrifice themselves for its safety (Patriotic);
- understand and appreciate different cultures and how best they can interact with people of cultures and communities other than their own (Cultural).
Required major courses: 39 credit hours
Required collateral courses: 6 credit hours
