General Information: Bachelor of Science
A student graduating with a degree in Applied Nutrition from College of the Ozarks will:
- Demonstrate a practical working knowledge of the art and science of food and human nutrition (Academic).
- Obtain a foundation in food, foodservice, normal nutrition, and awareness of medical nutrition sufficient for further training or graduate work. A graduate will qualify to sit for the nationally recognized Certified Dietary Managers, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP) examination by the Association of Nutrition and Food Professionals (ANFP). A graduate can find careers in institutional foods services like schools and rehabilitation facilities. They will be eligible to work in various public nutrition programs and as WIC nutritionists. A graduate will be well prepared to enter a graduate program leading to eligibility to sit for the Registered Dietitian Nutrition (RDN) examination from the Commission on Dietetics Registration (Vocational).
- Integrate food and nutrition concepts with a Christian worldview (Christian). Food is a gift from God.
- Impact their local and global communities by applying practical skills and knowledge to personal and population health and nutrition (Patriotic).
- Evidence awareness of the influence of cultural backgrounds and experiences of food habits and nutritional status (Cultural).
The Applied Nutrition major is designed to encourage a minor in business, communications, psychology or a second major such as exercise science.
Applied Nutrition Major Requirements: 49 credit hours

Note:
A 300-400 level research course is recommended for graduate school.
